Who are we?

We were formed in 1987, and owned local newspaper "East London Express", until it was purchased by Associated London News in 1989. During that year, we bought a stake in the Channel 3 franchisee London Weekend Television, but sold it soon after, due to the upcoming franchise round. After the success of the Sky satellite network, Viridian expressed a desire to get more involved with television. By late 1991, plans were being put into place for "Project V2". This was eventually shown, in a press conference in April 1992, as "Viridian Cablevision". Finally, at 5:00pm, on the 12th of August 1993, the then five-channel network opened, with a cross-channel opening ceremony, lasting all day. In 1996, Viridian relocated from the small East London offices they had had since their establishment in 1987, to our state-of-the-art studio and office complex in the vibrant East Midlands city of Nottingham. The facility was called Neo Viridian Tower. We retained that small space in London, as it is where we started. Our humble beginnings.

Neo Viridian Tower, Nottingham

Art Deco from the outside, yet futuristic inside. That's the vision we had for our new home, back in 1996, after all, we needed something special to make us move from our home back in London. And even now, 14 years on, it still has that same breath-taking interior and awe-inspiring view from the outside. It's not just an office block though. It's the whole control centre for us. Head office. Studios. Everything we need in one incredible building. Neo Viridian Tower.
